The District does not have its own power generating capacity. Electricity are purchased in bulk from NTPC Super Thermal Power Stations at Corba and Vindhyanchal and Gujarat Electricity Board. There is 1 Sub Station of 220/66 KVA supply at Magarwada and 6 Sub stations of 66/11 KV with installed capacity of 567 MVA lines provide electricity to the entire District, including all 21 villages.
At villages in Daman are well connected by motor able roads. The total surfaced road length in Daman is 191 kms. The National Highway No.8 from Ahmedabad to Bombay by passes Daman at a distance of about 7 kms.
The nearest railhead from Daman is Vapi on the Western Railway, at a distance of 12 kms. Long Distance trains on Bombay â€“ Gandhidham and Bombay Delhi routes have a scheduled stoppage at Vapi.
The Air Services between Bombay â€“ Bhavnagar, via Daman which was operated by Vayudoot and Damania Airways has been suspended and Daman Airport converted into the Indian Coastguards Air Station. Incidentally the Indian Coastguards have a major establishment at Daman.
There is automatic BSNL Telephone Exchange in Daman. Other operators like TATA and Reliance are operating in the communication area. They are offering services like STD, FAX, E-Mail and Internet Facilities and Cellular Operations.
There are no regulated wholesale markets in Daman. There are three general Municipal Market comprising of numerous retail outlets selling commodities / articles for routine consumption. Besides the Municipal Market there are number of retail traders for consumable items and other commodities.
There are Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACCs) existing in almost all the villages. A large Area Multi â€“ Purpose Society (LAMPS) also exists for tribal.
There are 14 schedule commercial Banks (PSB) with 18 branches and 1 State Co-operative Bank having 5 branches and 1 urban cooperative Bank with 1 branch and 7 Private Sector Bank with 9 branches. Total 33 bank branches are catering banking needs of the territory.
